Touristic London Pt.3: Fun Fun Fun

If you plan to visit London around Christmas time, head to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. I recommend to do it in the evening, even though it's more crowded then, but the lights are beautiful. Have to warn you though that the place is more Bavarian than English, and for some reason it also has a "Halloween" area in it. See more pictures of the place here.

The M & Ms' world consists of four floors of fun and joy. And delicious expensiveness.

Those who prefer shopping, should check out Westfield. There are two of these huge shopping malls, of which the other is just located next to the Olympic park.

The equally crowded, but way more intriguing and unique, Camden Market is the place of bohemians and hipsters. And drug addicts, at least some time back. There you can find exciting clothing, pubs and most importantly exotic cuisines. This time though we chose home food, which I recommend to all of you.

Touristic London

Heading out to London sometime? Here's some things you can do on your visit.

I highly recommend going on a Sandemans Free Tour. Like written, it's for free, you can leave a voluntary tip at the end of the tour. They do these tours in many major European cities in different langugages. The guides know the facts and are FUNNY.

We started from Hyde Park, saw the guards of Buckingham Palace change, got to see some more royal houses, dropped by Trafalgar Square and ended up at the Houses of Parliament. I learned a lot. For example Queen Elisabeth II's family's real surname was German (Hitler), but because of the war back then, it was "preferable" to have an English name.

Here's a video of the guards taking a walk. Before it was possible to get really close to them, but one day a Spanish guy (quéé?!) annoyed the guard so much that the guard ended up punching him.

And here we have a "demonstration" on the medieval way of executing traitors. For example Guy Fawkes, the movember November guy, who wanted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Can't really blame him, neither can those people who suffer from the political injustice until today.

Winter Wonderland

November 30th, 2011

For the first time we got together with a few of our work mates after office hours for some Christmassy experience at Hyde Park, London. Winter Wonderland offered great mulled wine, food from different countries, all sorts of things to buy and rides with flashy lights. What I wondered the most were the German- typed serving areas, I would have hoped for some typical English ones, but it didn't matter in the end as the beer was good!

Everything was lovely, and we clearly enjoyed ourselves.

And as music industry enthusiasts, we had to take a few "band pics". How hard could it be, when everyone just needs to look in different directions?
